Inside a golden hour…how I love that time of day, when the sun is low on the horizon, and long golden rays stretch across the landscape. I always feel peaceful and warm during this time.

In this golden space…I share my photos and write openhearted personal essays about nature, quiet inspirations, and just being human.

I hope in sharing these, you find some small, good feeling here.

  1. Hi Karin
Thanks for the follow. First of all there’s nothing quite like a Canadian follower. Even though I’m American I’ve always felt this strange connection to Canada so its destiny that I wound up marrying a Canadian. although Diane is from Edmonton and we lived in Calgary for six years we both love BC. Prior to meeting Diane I travelled Vancouver Island top to bottom doing a biking tour and whale watching at Alert Bay and then took the ferry to Prince Rupert and drove all the way back thru Prince George. So I will always love the Area where you live.

Ironically we will be returning next month to stay with friends in White Rock for awhile then going back to Alberta with relatives before flying back via Vancouver and onto our new life in Malaysia. I like the way you worded your about page and will gladly follow along

    1. Hello Rob and Diane! So glad you connected….as another layer to your note about destiny, I lived 27 years in Edmonton, and my husband is a born and raised Calgarian … so we have the prairies in our hearts, too. At one time (when I was just a young teenage lass) my mother also had a rental home in White Rock. I distinctly remember one Thanksgiving where everyone went skiing, I stayed home and the power went out! Not knowing any better, I took the turkey out of the fridge and put it in the snowbank outside 🙂 I’ve since learned you just leave the fridge door closed, should the power go out. Anyway I have probably walked in some of your footsteps, between here and Alberta. This Canadian appreciates your note and looks forward to reading your adventures abroad. Cheers!

  2. Hi Karin, being from the small (in comparison to canada ) island of ireland I am curious about canada, Its landscapes and its nature. Also it’s history (social history fascinates me), I have enjoyed reading your posts. Stephanie xxx

    1. Thank you Stephanie, I really want to get back to writing. Don’t give up on me, I will make the time! PS – one of my favourite movies is Waking Ned Devine – makes one long for a small friendly village on the Ireland coast. 🙂

  3. Finding time to write is hard I agree . I try to write a post once a week but I think I am only managing once a fortnight. My problem is I can’t seem to keep it short and sweet I have a lot to tell when it comes to writing. I am planning a book of short stories and this blogging thing has improved my writing skills (I think).and made me more disciplined in sitting down to write. early morning is best for me. I won’t give up on you. You will get back to it.
I remember that film, great bunch of irish actors(james Nesbitt, dave kelly) but I think it was filmed on the Isle of Man which is off the coast of England. 🙂
